Is EXTREME pain during sex (especially during penetration) during early pregnancy normal?

I'm about 4 or 5 weeks along now and am experiencing extreme pain that feels like ripping, tearing, stabbing, (you get the picture) during sex. It is the worst when my boyfriend is first trying to get in the vaginal opening. During actual intercourse it gets better but the first couple of minutes are UNBEARABLE! There is no unusual odor and no bleeding. My boyfriend says it feels alot warmer and wetter but it is extremely painful for me. Can anyone please help me?
